The Holy CityWelcome to Memorium Tempestatis!

Memorium Tempestatis, Latin for "memory of a season" or "memory of a storm" is an original-theme fantasy roleplaying environment based loosely on real-world medieval history around the year 1200 A.D. Roleplay on Memorium centers around political, religious and magical conflict in and between several nations and faiths.

The nation of Avanne is roughly analogous to medieval France before the Albigensian Crusades, during the time of Eleanor of Aquitaine and the Courts of Love. Avanne stands at the center of the conflict between the dominant and conservative Orienite faith, which worships only the god Orien and considers the practice of magic blackest heresy, and the newer Vesperan faith, which worships the god Orien as well as the goddess Occasa and trains a part of its priesthood in the magic arts.

The nation of Castana, analogous to Spain during the time of the Moorish occupation, is under the control of their Lumite conquerors, who have brought a new era of enlightenment and prosperity to the region, as well as their own faith -- the teachings of the prophet Lumah, a former Vesperan priest cast out for loss of faith.

While peace reigns over the region now, storm clouds brew on the horizon as the Orienite Church and its allies, the Vicenan Empire, work toward regaining the power and control they have lost, and the Kuredin Lumites of the desert lands to the south grow restless at the growing decadence of the Castanan Lumites and their inability (or unwillingness?) to convert the surrounding nations.

The nations of Avanne and Castana are currently open for roleplay, as are the three major religions of the area (Orienite, Vesperan and Lumite). Vicena -- analogous to the late Byzantine Empire -- is still under development and not currently open to players. The Kuredin desert lands are an OOC area and will remain as such for the near future.
